Get your sunblock out! and put cotton balls in your ears...

>> Tuesday, March 5, 2013

This is really a pattern... (no pictures in my blog posts).  It's ok, we're all grown ups, we can read also ;)
So today was 16C!!!!  That's SPRING people!

Now let's get into a time machine and travel back in time to March 2005.  This was the month I started blogging (thanks to my buddy in crime Cadiz!) Here is my first post EVER and also an explanation why Spring is "the best ever!!!" in the words of my 27 year old self.

In case you're wondering... no  I don't have any fresh thoughts to shed on the topic...  Well I guess I do.  Getting older made me realize that it's OK not have 'crazy energy', and it's OK not to be working towards something UNBELIEVABLY amazing...  It's OK to just lead quite life and enjoy little things...

Baaaaahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!   Boy did I get you or what!?!?!!!!!!!!    AAAAhahahhaah!!!!
NO OF COURSE NOT!!! NO it's NOT ok to just sit there.   You must go after crazy exciting new wonderful things!  Yes, you can and should be content with all the beautiful little things (and big) in your life, but you should never put your 'hands down' and say "oh well, I didn't accomplish this and that, and I guess it's OK..."  NOOOOOoooooOOOO  GET off those sweet butt cheeks and do whatever it is you WANT!  Make your family raise an eye brow, surprise YOURSELF even.

Yeah... I'm not grown-up yet.  I really have not matured what so ever.... Maybe in 2 weeks when I turn the big 35....  Maybe when I'm (hopefully a Grandma)... Then again.......  I DON'T THINK SOOOOOOOOO!

Corner View - Serendipity

>> Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Serendipity means a "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it. (wikipedia)
Here we are exercising our love for travel by hanging off the boat to see glaciers in Patagonia.  (Don't worry, no ginger haired guys were hurt while taking this photo).
I'll start out by saying that I COMPLETELY DO NOT BELIEVE IN SERENDIPITY.

I believe that 'happy accidents' happen when you're moving towards something, working on a goal, and pushing along in a certain direction... then... seemingly by accident, but ONLY seemingly, little things happen to propel you forward.  Serendipity? Luck? No way, it's just what happens when you work hard for something and keep your eyes open.

So did I meet Vito by "accident"?  Some may see it that way.  Though if you peel just one tiny layer you'll see the intricate web of activities that pushed us together.  But that's a story for another day!

Today is Serendipity, so to answer the question of how I met Vito, I will simply say: Sure ok, he dropped out of the sky into my lap!  No literally, he flew over from the Netherlands to NY to take me out to dinner. :)

We both worked for the same client just in different departments.  I in NYC and he in Amsterdam.  After a few months of working via email, and a few phone calls that made me conclude he was rude, and him that I was a man (?!???)  we somehow got past it and figured out that we had lots in common, especially love of travel, that we were same age, and so on and so forth.  Then Vito flew over to hang out with me for a long weekend!  It was Easter weekend and precisely a year later on the following Easter weekend I moved to the Netherlands.

Tada!  (Serendipity is such a romantic concept... let's believe in it for just one day)  We can go back to our militant, systematic selves tomorrow!  (Me? militant and systematic?? Yes! Because it's so action oriented, I find being "serendipitous" too passive for my taste.)

Lesson kids: Look up!  Good things DO drop from the sky accidentally or on purpose.

Play with us next week!!!

Corner View - Artist?

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Of COURSE I'm an artist!  Look at my "piece of art"... meheheheee (Yes, I laugh at my own jokes, my doctor says it's healthy!)  Oh yeah and I should add, Vito helped with the artistic process.

Here is the full story of how I "killed" the artist in me :)

And here is a doodle.

Clever skirt!

>> Friday, September 21, 2012

Not the best photo job, but you get the point.  This is a very clever skirt not being too tight to constrain certain un-constrainables and having just the right amount of stretch in case the un-constrainables do indeed 'run away'.  And never mind the toe cleavage...oopsi.
In case you're wondering how I've achieved such a banging thighs and butt.... ehem... I have to comment that it takes a LOT of work!  It doesn't happen just over night!  I worked on it hard!  Spaghetti, pizza, cheese!  Lots and lots of cheese!  :) Speaking of which... I must go join Vito on the couch for hot Friday evening of TV watching and random grabbing (of cheese) from the fridge.   Tooddles!

Sempre Primavera!

>> Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Spring is on the way!!!!

This is how it all started back in 2005. By "it all" I mean the "Sempre Primavera" movement that served as the catalist for some pretty unbelievable changes in my life. I mean, one day I'm standing on a busy street corner in NYC talking angry nonsense to my friend in Chicago saying how we are in the prime of our lives but why is it so BORING and NOTHING ever happens??? Well, my wise friend told me to start a blog and document everything just to see if I was indeed right; nothing ever happened or I just didn't pay attention?

Well in March of 2005 I started a blog and by coincidence or not "things" began to happen...

Introductions

>> Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Hi!

I love reading blogs, it's like walking by a house in the evening and the light is on and the curtains are opened. You get to look in, see what the people are doing, see what they've done with the decor, etc, etc. Blogs are even better! It's like the people inside the house saw you walk by and ran out to invite you in for some tea and cookies and pretty much answer any question you want to pose them. I love it. I'm nosy, yes, and so what. I love to see what others are doing in their lives, what decisions they make and why, and perhaps learn a thing or two.

When I find a new blog that I like, I always look for the 'about me' section or find the very beginning to see who the person is and why they started the blog. So it's only fair that I make such a post for my blog.

So, who am I? I'm from the US and have moved to the Netherlands in 2007 because I met my darling Vito and he thought living in his small town Netherlands would be better then New York City (where I lived). He whisked me away exactly 1 year from the day we first laid eyes on each other. After a year living here we bough a cute little house, and 6 months ago we got married!

I love living here, I actually always dreamed of living in a small town America, and come to think of it, I basically have the same set up here, just a couple of windmills here and there throwing you off! This brings me to one of the reasons I started this blog. It's so easy to fall into the everyday flow of things and forget that you're living a real life fairy tale!!! I want to be sure and remind myself of the beautiful things around me.

Reason two.. having a husband (eeh! I still feel funny when I say that!), one must feed the husband. Yes I know it's the modern world and men cook, but STILL, I think every woman must know how to entice her man with good cooking. Anyway, reason two for this blog is to write down the recipes of things I cook so I can make them again. I tend to variate recipes I find on the internet and some times they come out especially wonderfully but gollygee I can't remember what the heck I did next time I try to make the dish!!! Like the absolutely yummy chilly soup I made out of remaining bolognese sauce... Can't remember what it was I did to make it so yum that first time.

Reason three. As there should be a three! I'm 31, (eeh! I still feel funny when I say that!) and I believe it's really time to accomplish the things that we had in mind when we were 21 graduating college and thinking arrogantly that we will conquer the world and all the people before us that said they would but did not were all idiots. Anyway, it's REALLY time to get on top of that. Like now. So I'd like to document my road here towards becoming a billionair-ess, or something just as appropriately ambitious. You think I'm kidding, I'm so not. I do have a few ideas about some interesting projects, neither of which has billions written on it, but that's not the point. I'm the type of person who is motivated by a goal rather then the actual achievement of it. The moment I achieve my goal however bogus, I need to immediately set another one or else I start moping around like an abandoned puppy outside of the supermarket. I say, if you shoot for the sun then you'll at least hit a star and that's perfectly fine with me! (As long as I hit something, yeah, I know I'm a bit violent).

A bit more about me... I love to travel, eat well, dress well, and party with family and friends. I've always loved to surprise people around me, now I think I'm at a point where I'd like to inspire them, and surprise myself instead. Oh yeah, and I LOVE coffee! (It must be the ex-new yorker in me.)

Hope you've enjoyed my little 'about me' section. This is probably the most 'normal' you'll ever see me acting. Seriously.
Ta! Air kisses on both cheeks daaaling!
