Corner View - Thankfulness

>> Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Thankfulness is an art.  It's an art to be practiced, perfected and even if you're really good at it, there are always new techniques to learn.

I myself have to practice this ''art" daily.  The reason I started blogging in 2005 was to challenge myself to see good, and positive things, in every day, which in a way finding something daily to be thankful for.  It's so easy to just make snide remarks about everything.  And doing things that are easy will not get us anywhere.  Finding easier ways to do things that are difficult, not THAT! is something I'm a big fan of.

So here is my recipe for Thankfulness daily:  take a snapshot of something making it beautiful, and if you're not a photo person, write a blog post about something making it sound nice/good/glamorous/beautiful/lovely/fantastic!  Of course I'm talking to a room full of bloggers, you guys know this trick already ;)

Except my friend Cadiz who started her blog in 2005 specifically TO complain...  she's loosened up since then... especially after meeting THE ONE through her blog...and marrying him ... (!!!)

Thank you for today's theme Kari!

Well, this is really a special thing to be thankful for! You'll never know what things are for... ;o)

I started my blog for the same reasons: to remind myself that even in the darkest moments (I was depressed at that time) there still were moments of bliss out there. I just needed to try to notice them.

Lovely photo. Thank you for sharing x

You're right, that's a nice way to experience the positive and good things in life. And not to be overlooked.

Many luck to your friend. This is a great thing!

Wow, I remember seeing Cadiz's comments back in 2005-06 on Sempre Primavera. Never knew how her story turned out—so nice to see it here! :)

woolfie..!? what r u waiting for hmmmmm?

Francesca- 'difficult moments'? nah- that's my strategy for every moment, but I'm the kind of person who wakes up, stomps her food and says: why isn't my MAID making my coooooooffeeeeeeee....!!?? why am I not a biiiiiillliiiionaaaaaairee??? EVERY moment is difficult for me :P

J - she is all good- I guess since then we all 'met boys' our knights in shining armor :) :)

I like that, "Thankfulness is an art. It's an art to be practiced..." I just wrote that in my journal as a reminder. Very nice! And nice photo. Yours and Francesca's photo would look lovely framed and hanging side by side.

Beautiful words and thoughts and photo of the berries radiant in the snowy branches! Thats amazing story about your blog friend who found her s.o.m. (significant other/soulmate...i just made up the abbreviation!) on her blog!!
Thank you also for your comments and its true lately it has beens a street party almost everyday, I think it is almost a manifestation from believing in the universe and feeling more and more deeply in that sense of thanks (difficult as it can be, as you said)... and then more and more I do believe the universe and we become active in a conversation and after all it is about...thanks!! (today I am not expecting to land into a street party, feels a little quiet, but...we`ll see*:))

aww, ale, it's true. i DO love to complain. and no one makes life seem sunny like you do!

it's still hard to imagine--all these years later--that our plan was to "start blogs, meet "the ones," and become billionaires. two out of three isn't bad, but i'm pretty sure you're probably going to be a billionaire soon.

oh, and you never know who you'll bump into in the comments section of a blog!

Beautiful photo! So much tranquility and peace in that photo! I so much agree with what you wrote - the reason I personally like photography is to capture beautiful things/beings and communicate that beauty and appreciation for it to other people around me.

I try to be thankful every day. Living in a 3rd world country tries me daily though :-D

I'm so glad you're blogging more often again.
